This afternoon we participated in an incredibly moving and powerful Stations of the Cross. Our Year 6 leaders performed and read each station with reverence, solemn in their understanding of what this means for us as Catholics. We are so proud of the way the children shared this message with the school community. As the children left the church class by class, they filed past the final scene in complete silence, a clear sign that they understood the importance of the Stations of the Cross, respecting what they had just experienced. Such a powerful way to end the school term and prepare for the Easter ceremonies.
Dear Parents and Guardians
As we come to the end of Term 1, I take this opportunity to thank you for the way you have
supported your children to settle so seamlessly into the school year. It has been a very
successful term and I am grateful that our families feel comfortable to come and speak with
your child’s teacher or with me if you have any questions or concerns regarding your child.
The community spirit of St Mary’s is certainly alive and well within our school. We have had
so many opportunities to celebrate our school this term and we have many more to come
throughout the year. Our recent Crazy Sock Day last week raised $281.50 for CARITAS to
support people most in need in our world, and our Casual Clothes Day yesterday resulted in
15 boxes of food being donated to St Vincent de Paul. Your generosity and kindness is
greatly appreciated and will make a significant difference to the lives of those in need in our
community. It is heartwarming to see the impact that giving has on the students as they see
the power of reaching out to help those in need. This truly is faith in action, and we thank
you.
We had a very successful Athletics Carnival this week, with a sea of red, blue, green and
gold. It was a fantastic day, with thanks to our wonderful staff and parent volunteers who
made it such a great day. We will be announcing the winning team at our first assembly in
week 1 next term.
I wish you all a very happy and holy Easter and a wonderful and relaxing holiday with your
families.
I look forward to next term and all it will bring for us.
Kind regards
Lisa
This Term in STEM we have been looking at different kinds of energy and how it is transferred from one place to the other. The students have loved creating windmills while learning about Wind Energy, and exploring and making different circuits using a variety of materials, including potatoes!
The Grade 6 students had the opportunity to disassemble some devices to see what was inside.
In the last two weeks all students have been studying light and how it is transferred, and have made stained glass windows which are displayed around the school.
